I love the fall TV line up 
I like TV more than movies because the story has to continue over a much longer period of time. My favorite part about watching something be it television, theater, or movies is character development. It’s why I love the Matrix trilogy so much, you see so many characters grow and become different people to fulfill the roles required by their situations. Morpheus plays father, mentor, and captain; Trinity plays lover, wife, temptress, and conscience. Neo obviously goes through the most, starting as a plugged in human….anyways, I digress. I like dramatic television series because the amount of time the writers have with their audience requires a much more involved character, one who doesn’t have some single event in their past that defines them, but rather a much longer past that allows you to explore within their psyche to see what makes them tick. This is why I watch so much TV, I fall in love with the characters after only a couple episodes and then I have to watch the entire series no matter how bad it may become.
and FYI, Firefly is the greatest show ever made, and I would trade every single show on my fall line up for just one more season of Firefly. God dammit Joss Whedon, why do you rock so hard?

I watch mostly the same shows as you. Add in Dirty Jobs on Tuesdays (new season next week) and Big Bang Theory and we’re pretty much equal. I didn’t get into Dollhouse but I only watched the first episode (fall lineup started).
For what it is worth I watched Lost season 1 in HS and was hooked, but after Season 2 (I HATE Michelle Rodriguez) I lost interest. Over the summer I got back into it. If you gave up on Lost, too, you might want to reconsider.
